Karyn Rice Towel Ring November 02nd, 2018 - 02:10:16
A kitchen hand towel, two fabrics and a piece of batting that is 9 by 12 inches and a one-inch button to start. Take your kitchen towel open it along the long side, cut the towel in half we're going to just be using this half. Now we're going to hold it upside down and we're going to fold in twice a quarter of an inch and stitch to give it a finished edge. It's going to look like this. We used color thread today, so you can see our stitches but you're going to want to use matching thread. It's going to look like that.
We'll set that aside and we're going to use that in a minute, so then download the free template from our website and you can either just cut around the template or trace it onto freezer paper. So I just traced around it. You want to take your fabrics. Put the two fabrics right sides together on top of the batting place, your template on top and now we're going to put some pins in and then just cut all the way around the template. You want to make sure your fabric and you're batting is slightly outside of your template on all sides, and it's going to look like this.
Then we're going to stitch a quarter inch away around your template and we're going to leave the opening open and we're going to back stitch when we start and when we end now we're going to clip our four corners, we're going to cut a little triangle off right before you're stitching, this is going to help reduce bulk and when you turn it inside out, it's going to look better now we're going to cut a slice on these inner corners just cut a diagonal line right to the stitches. So now that you've stitched and cut your corners, we're going to turn your unit inside out, it's going to look like this and we're going to measure approximately 5/8 of an inch in and we're going to fold both sides in and just press with your iron.
This is how your unit looks, pressed in we're going to take our towel. We sewed previously, and our stitch line is going to be on the right using your top as a guide, we're going to just fold our towel over and create some plates. You know just use, you know just go by eye and create some pleats, then we're going to just do a top stitch across the top, and your stitching will look like this. Then we're going to measure one inch down from on the towel and we're going to stuff this on the top and make sure you have about one inch in then you're going to take your towel and we're going to stitch all the way around the edge.
