Charlotte Mercer Towel Ring October 31st, 2018 - 20:01:41
A towel rack for our shower area in the master bedroom. The shower area has an extra wall and it so it's a little bit smaller and there's not a lot of wall space for hanging towels. So I grab some teak and I'll show you that in a minute and we're gonna build this. So it's not a very complicated rack. It's it's about 70 inches tall, give or take. I may trim off for the baseboard, I'm not sure yet, I'm around the tops, I'm not sure. Yet we get all that figured out, but it'll hang two towels over under and it has to fit behind a door.
So it's only going to be three inches deep, total the backs will be the mounting strips will be notched in the back and then the towel holders themselves will be mortise and tenon den or I may opt for simplicity and go to domino. We shall see so anyways, here's the lumber, so the lumber is a full four quarters. Teak. You know it's hard to see the grain because it's all rough cut right now, but we get that trimmed down and get it to get the pieces to meld a bit. You'll be able to see a bit so we're gonna start with breaking down lumber.
So you notice, I didn't use the joiner when I milled this stuff up. I was very fortunate. This lumber was extremely flat, so I was able to just skip playing it and then clean it up at the table saw and man I mean it is just it's dead-on, so there's no reason to add an extra step and remove more material. When I don't have to sew, these rails are pretty much finished other than sanding and getting the notches in them for the cross pieces.
